| The
cottage stands back a little from a country road, next to our
own house. We have furnished and equipped it to a standard that
we would be delighted to find if we
were searching for really special holiday accommodation. An
inventory of contents will reassure you that we have thought of
everything to ensure that your stay is a happy one. Everywhere
has fitted carpets - except the kitchen of course. If you don't
wish to be out and about every minute of every day, there are
four colour televisions, video player / recorder with library
of tapes, two music centres, chess, Monopoly, Scrabble, jigsaws,
interesting books and magazines, plenty of novels and good maps
and guide books to the locality (one wall is covered by a huge
1:25,000 Ordnance Survey map of the whole of North Wales!). Should
you return from the hills
cold or wet, then enjoy a hot power shower or bath and central
heating. Snuggle down in front of the open log fire with a hot
drink and good music, with soft lighting from oil lamps and candles
if you prefer.
You will enjoy lovely mountain views across wooded hillsides and
sheep pastures. The river Glaslyn, with salmon and trout fishing
and summer swimming flows from Snowdon just a couple of hundred
metres away. Walk from the door into remote
and beautiful hills , or take the Sherpa minibus that serves
the Snowdon massif and catch a ride back to the door. Great castles
- Harlech, Caernarfon and Cricieth
are all within thirty minutes drive. A 'toy' railway steams into
the hills to the biggest slate caverns in the world. The amazing
Italianate village of Portmeirion is close by, and the sandy beaches
and rocky coves of Cardigan Bay. There are ancient copper mines
in the hills behind us; one, Sygun, can be entered safely with
a guide. We have riding stables down the lane, and you can explore
forgotten bridleways and woodland paths on horseback, lunching
perhaps at a country pub. Or - you can sit quietly and just read
or doze by a beautiful tumbling mountain stream behind the cottage.
If you decide on a change from cooking in the well-equipped kitchen,
we offer impartial advice on good eating places ranging from the
Best Fish & Chip Shop in Wales (really!) to special places for
celebration meals. The bustling, award-winning village of Beddgelert
is close by, five minutes drive or twenty five-minutes adventurous
walk by the river, and offers a wide choice of eating venues catering
to the thousands of visitors attracted by its beautiful location,
and fame as winning village in the Wales-in-Bloom, Britain-in-Bloom
and Europe-in-Bloom competitions!
It is difficult to know where to stop. We have lived here for
thirty five years and have climbed, walked, cycled, driven, camped
and barbecued just about everywhere. We know and love Snowdonia
better than most. We will be delighted to share our enthusiasm
and knowledge with you. If you ask.
We
look forward to meeting you.
Best
Wishes,
Anne
and Alan Heason

NOTE:
(8th bed) We are not allowed, by the Wales Tourist Board, to advertise
the cottage as sleeping 8 people. The reason for this is because,
to achieve and maintain 5 star status, each bed, including children’s
beds, must be at least 3 feet wide, and all beds must be made
up and ready for use at all times, regardless of the number of
guests occupying the property.
One of the bedrooms is small; we call it ‘the children’s
room'. It cannot house two 3 feet-wide beds. But should guests
request it of us, we can put an eighth, narrower, bed in the room
and have it ready for your arrival. We advise against more
than six adults sharing Tywyn.
TARIFF:
is for a week, from Saturday, 4pm arrival, to the following Saturday;
(we would appreciate your arranging to leave by 10.30am, giving
us opportunity to prepare the cottage for arriving visitors).
DEPOSIT:
£100 deposit secures a booking; please send us the balance
four weeks before your arrival.
We would like you to lodge a £100 security deposit when
you arrive, which we will refund in full if all is found to be
in good and fair order after your departure.
RENTAL
INCLUDES: Unrestricted use of the cottage at all times
for the number of guests booked. All electricity, oil-fired central
heating, open fire with logs and coal, permanent hot water, bath,
three electric showers, all bed linen and towels. Use of full
sized electric cooker with oven and grill, microwave with grill,
refrigerator, deep freeze, toaster, coffee maker, four colour
televisions, DVD player, video player, two music centres, good
books and guides to the area, games and puzzles, gas barbeque,
washing machine, tumble dryer and drying area.
Access
(by arrangement) to our adjacent two-acre woodland garden with
streams and waterfalls, home to an unusual collection of mature
trees, specie rhododendrons, magnolias, azaleas, and rare, beautiful
and unusual plants, many propagated from seed collected in the
Himalaya, far East and elsewhere. The garden was one of six finalists
of 3,000 entries in the RHS 'Best Garden in Britain' competition
2003.
We
offer comprehensive guidance, tailored to the requirements and
abilities of individual guests, on walks of all standards of difficulty
and length, and suggestions for driving tours using quiet, little-used
roads to peaceful, 'secret' spots.
If
guests wish, we will, on occasion, prepare very special evening
meals, cooked to an unusually high standard. The menu will be
discussed between us in advance.
We
respectfully request that you understand that the cottage is a
no smoking zone because of the sensibilities of ever-changing
guests.
